Radiograph images are an important diagnostic tool for dentists. X-rays show dentists a clear picture of many different oral functions. They provide detail of the root, bone and jaw structure as well as highlight cavities.
Although low levels of radiation exposure are involved in taking x-rays, scientists and physicians believe it to be worth the risk. It is well accepted that the risks of dental radiographs are extremely low compared to the benefits of having them done. This is because radiographs allow for visibility of damages to the teeth and gums that could not otherwise be seen. Our practice uses digital x-rays, which use only 10% of the radiation of traditional x-rays.
